Kaycee M Jett ~
I have always been an avid
reader and I like to read everything I can get my hands on. I have
always enjoyed spinning tales as well. After years and years of
deliberation, pushing and shoving from my best friend, I finally
submitted my first story to Forbidden Publications in a contest. My
book "The Ordinary Housewife" won the contest and was released
December 22, 2006.
I am currently working on several other stories at the moment. I am
currently working on a Paranormal Romance, a Historical Romance as
well as one set in the Renaissance Era. This one should prove to be
very interesting. I intend to widen my scope of writing to include
not only romance but to the realm of fantasy, thriller and suspense.
Of course, there will be romance in there... How can there not be?

Thank you for joining us
today Kaycee. Could you briefly tell us a little bit about yourself?
First, I'd like to say thank you for this wonderful opportunity to
speak with you today. I was born and raised in central Georgia but
now live in Mississippi with my wonderful husband and my beautiful
family. Here in Mississippi my imagination runs as wild and free as
the deer in my backyard. I am an avid reader and I love to read
everything that I can get my hands on. I have always dabbled at
writing, mainly children's books and young pre-teen romances and I
had rather big dreams and ambitions to be a great writer. At the
urging and constant prodding by my best friend, I finally got the
nerve to submit a short story to Forbidden Publications.
Your writing career took off when you were selected as a winner in a
short story contest. Can you tell us about your emotions when you
discovered that you were a winner?
After I entered the contest at Forbidden Publication, I anxiously
awaited the announcement of the winners. I do believe that it was
the longest wait that I have ever endured in my life. I was on pins
and needles and I chewed my nails down to the nub until Forbidden
Publications sent me an email letting me know that my story had been
chosen. I was so excited and couldn't wait to tell my best friend
and my family. It was one of my biggest dreams come true. I'd like
to thank Forbidden Publications for taking a chance on this new
author.
In
"The Ordinary Housewife", you write about one woman's desire to
prove to her husband that she is more than just his wife. She wishes
to be regarded as his lover. Do you think that this is a situation
that a lot of readers will be able to relate to?
Most definitely. I think that there
are many women out there that feel like they are being taken for
granted by their significant other. I think that most women could
take the bull by the horns and reclaim the excitement in their lives
with a little encouragement.
You mention on your website that you have a very supportive friend,
who has been instrumental in your career as an author. But how have
your family reacted to your new status as an author?
My family is very supportive about
my writing. I do have to admit though that my husband has never read
anything I have written. He jokingly comments that he can retire
when I've sold a million books. My older children give me constant
encouragement and my husband provides the inspiration. I have a
great support network. I couldn't be who I am without them.
I see that you enjoy reading paranormal stories and indeed, are
working on one of your own at the moment. Could you tell us a little
bit about it?
Sure, I'd love to. Right now, I am
working on a paranormal romance I have entitled "Angelina's Tears".
My hero (no name chosen at the moment) is a ghost. He is forever
trapped within the pages of an old parchment and lost between
realms. Angelina is a physic and unknowingly has the power to
release him from his cursed life.
Are you able to share with us the Historical Romance that you are
also working on?
This story is called "Aria's Way"
and is set back in the late 1800's. Aria is a young girl who is
vacationing with her family. While on vacation, she meets the man of
her dreams. He is a half-breed and she is in an arranged marriage.
This story will take you on an epic journey of betrayal, love and
passion.
Do you put anything of yourself into your characters and if so,
which one is most like yourself?
I am glad that you asked me this
question. As a matter of fact, I do put a lot of myself into the
stories I write. This way, I can relate to the heroine and I feel
like it makes my story more credible and have more heart.
You seem to be a very busy woman right now, Kaycee. Are you able to
keep a happy medium or do you find yourself writing at night, when
the family have gone to bed?
You are right. I do stay busy in my
life. I have a full time job, a husband, small children and a home
to care for. I write when the mood strikes me. I carry around a
small tape recorder with me where ever I go so that if an idea comes
to me, I can record it at the moment then write them out at my
leisure.
What is the most surprising thing you have learnt about yourself, on
becoming a writer?
Hummmm... the most surprising think
I have learned about myself is self-expression and not being
"bashful" when I write. I never knew that I could write romance
especially erotica. Romance to me is a state of mind and an
adventure for the heart. When I write, I envision the scene before
me and if I like the way it plays out in my mind, then I write it
out. Self-expression is a must in writing romance.
Who has been the biggest influence in your life, as far as your
writing is concerned?
I can't say that one person has
influenced me more than the other. My best friends give me the
confidence and moral support that I need. My husband is my rock and
my guinea pig. When I envision certain things in my stories, my
husband is there for my inspiration. My family is my cheering squad
and they let me know that they are proud of me. I have the best
support system in the world.
What is the most valuable piece of advice that you have ever been
given?
I have been given so much wonderful
advise over the years that it will be hard to pick just one today.
If I did, it would be to Live life today as if it were your last,
love with all of your heart, laugh with every breath you take and
dance as if no one were watching. Apply this to your life everyday
and keep in mind that life is short. Never give up on your dreams.
They do come true.
As an author, what are your hopes and aspirations for the next
twelve months?
I sincerely hope to have two (2) of
my books that I am working on accepted for publication. I am working
on a third idea at the moment as well but it is still in the rough
stages.
Thank you for sharing with us today Kaycee. May I take this
opportunity to wish you lots of success in the future.
Thank you very much for this
fantastic opportunity to share myself with the readers.
